Romsey Labour successfully organised and hosted a meeting between Camel Projects and local residents.

Once the two groups were in a meeting together communications immediately improved and to a large extent concerns by residents were allayed.

We are following up on the planning permission granted for Hope Street Yard.  This is proving an interesting but difficult task as planning permission was granted in 1985 and work was started but not completed.  The difficulty is that once a permitted building is started then the planning approval stays live.  This is made more complicated because all the records are Microfiched and archived.  Therefore many residents who were recently made aware that building work would shortly start had no idea what was going to be built.  We have now found the original plans for what are termed ‘Craft Workshops’ and there will be two meetings with residents to discuss the development, which is now in a conservation area.
