The entrance to An-Lac House
The entrance to An-Lac House
An-Lac House is a unique haven for elderly Vietnamese refugees, who originally came to the UK as part of the Boat People exodus from Vietnam in the 1980’s.
An-Lac provides a supportive environment for these frail elderly folk, including familiar food & language (many do not have any English), and nursing care to deal with both complex medical conditions and end-of life care.
The Tory County Council are proposing to cut all annual support funding totalling £47,000. This will replace the full time Vietnamese speaking carers and cooks with flying care workers who do not speak the language, have very little time to spend with the residents, and will not be able to provide for the other needs of this vulnerable group of residents.
