Romsey Councillors are in shock at the sad and sudden loss of our Mayor and comrade Nigel Gawthrope.
Nigel was a true man of the people: a working class hero who was at his best mixing with Cambridge residents (as when he unveiled the Romsey R).
There will be many tributes to this giant of a man whose whole life has been involved in helping people, and we will associate with them all.  Nothing will fill the gap he has left in his family, on the council and amongst his friends. On behalf of Romsey we send our condolences to his wife and family, and all those affected by this tragic occurence.
