An Environmental Improvement Programme bid submitted by Cllr Katie Thornburrow has been awarded for two benches on Gwydir Street.

The need to have rest places for residents walking between the shops on Mill Road and the homes in the north of the ward was raised in 2021. Katie will work with residents and the Council to agree the best locations. More benches have been agreed for Petersfield Green.

Other projects include four new community noticeboards, and biodiversity improvements for the East Rd estate, Ironworks, St Matthew’s St and St Matthew’s Piece. In addition the much-loved window box and hanging basket scheme was so successful it is being extended to other parts of the ward.
