As a direct result of the cross-party 2019 Water Crisis Forum organised by Cllr Katie Thornburrow, Cambridge Labour commissioned the Chalk Stream Project to assess these rare and precious physical features, and propose improvements across all of them.
In Autumn last year, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority agreed funding of £420,000 and work should start this year. Petersfield has two of these precious streams, Vicar’s Brook and Hobson’s Brook and the Project has suggested a range of improvements. Your Labour councillors will ensure that these are community-based projects working closely with the Council, and other environmental organisations. Possibilities include habitat improvements, tree works, and dig ‘n dump in combination with stream bed raising.
