Yvonne Nobis for Newnham
City Candidate for Newnham
I’m Yvonne, and I’m the Labour candidate for Newnham in this year’s City Council election. I have worked in Newnham for the last 15 years and would very much welcome the opportunity to represent Newnham residents. Newnham is an area very dear to me: I swim here most days! Originally from Edinburgh, via Dorset, I have now lived in Cambridgeshire for 25 years.
My background is in information – both creating and using it. I started my career in Legal Education, and for some years was a legal, then general academic and public library publisher, latterly working on products concerned with the EU. The travelling commitment of publishing was not consistent with having small children and so I moved to the other side of the information coin and became a librarian. I currently work for the University of Cambridge, as an academic science librarian.
I have been a Labour Party member for over 30 years, and I’m a committed trade unionist. In my first research role, I was the AUT (now UCU) representative for researchers, and I am now responsible for UCU casework within the University.
I hope you’ll put your trust in me in May to represent Newnham residents.
