Labour councillors in the north of the city have called ?for ?a special meeting of North Area Committee to allow residents in East and West Chesterton, King’s Hedges and Arbury to hear the City Deal proposals for Milton Road and Histon Road.

Councillor Carina O’Reilly, Deputy Leader of the Council and a councillor for Arbury, said: “?The City Deal has put forward proposals for Milton Road and Histon Road as part of its plans to reduce congestion and improve air quality? in the City??. We welcome investment in improvements for public transport, cycling and walking but we also have to get any changes right.  Milton Road and Histon Road are important residential roads in the north of the City. We want to hear what residents think we should do, not only to get the transport improvements right but also how to improve the public realm along them and at Mitchams Corner.”

Councillor Kevin Price, a Kings Hedges councillor and member of the City Deal Assembly which will be considering the proposals later in 2016,

said: “This is an opportunity to use significant City Deal funding for two key schemes. We? have asked for ?a special meeting ??to make sure residents across the north of the city have an opportunity to hear details, put their queries and concerns directly to transport planners and help to shape the final proposals.?”?
