Yvonne at Crofters Event
Yvonne at Crofters Event

There was a good turnout for Newnham Labour’s ‘Meet the Candidate’ event at Crofters Café, on Saturday. Despite the rain, a good number of residents came to meet Newnham Labour’s candidate for the City Council elections, Yvonne Nobis.

Residents had the chance to discuss a range of local issues with Yvonne, City Councillor Cameron Holloway, and other
Newnham Labour members. Newnham Labour members provided delicious cakes, which went down a treat!

If you would like there are any issues you would like to discuss with Yvonne, please get in touch at yvonnenobis1@gmail.com, and she will be more than happy to help.

Yvonne works as the Head of Physical Sciences Library at Cambridge University, based at the Moore Library in Newnham. She is a committed trade unionist, and is the University and College Union (UCU) casework coordinator for Cambridge, assisting colleagues with employment issues.

She is committed to equality of opportunity and finds it galling to live in one of the most unequal cities in the UK.

Yvonne is a keen wild swimmer and can be seen in the river in Newnham throughout the year. She is concerned about water quality in the Cam, alongside other environmental and climate issues, and she campaigns for the University to divest from links with fossil fuel companies.
