"Rough sleepers represent some of the most vulnerable members of our community. They need the council and its partners more than ever at this time."

The City Council has committed itself to implement government guidance to support rough sleepers or those at risk of rough sleeping for whom it’s often harder to self-isolate, and to make sure that they have access to accommodation and the support they need.  Currently they are looking at council properties and are also discussing possibilities with housing associations, hoteliers, bed and breakfast providers and some private landlords to ensure that the council is in a position to respond to demand as it arises.

Labour’s Executive Councillor for Housing, Richard Johnson, is in close communication with officers on this and has expressed his support for the move. Read more here on the City Council web site.
