Campaigners against the threat from the Cambridgeshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to close the Out of Hours GP surgery in Chesterton, and relocate the service to Addenbrookes, are took the fight to the County Council when its Health Committee met to hear a report from the CCG on the plans.

Kelley Green, a City resident who has already presented the CCG with a more than 2100 strong petition against the plans, will be presenting another petition to councillors on the committee asking that the County Council formally objects to the proposal.

Ms Green is planning to stand as a Labour candidate in May’s County Council elections and said: “The County Health Committee is an important partner for the CCG and I will be asking it to consider carefully the major concerns we will be raising about the consultation. Thanks to our pressure the CCG has already agreed to extend the consultation but we think it is fatally flawed including serious deficiencies in the Health Impact Assessment. We will be asking the County Council to make a clear statement that it cannot support the proposal to move the service on the current evidence presented.”
