Mike Sargeant spoke at the planning application for 1 Milton Road-behind the Portland Arms. “One of my major concerns with the applications in the ward, is that 400 + people would come to West Chesterton and put additional pressure on Car Parking. The proposals also don’t answer the need for additional housing which is pushing up house prices and forcing young families to move away from Cambridge.”

Once more West Chesterton is faced with planning proposals which don’t meet local needs..

The next proposal is at the Milton Road/Gilbert Road corner – an ‘ApartHotel’ of 133 apartments/hotel rooms and 5 houses, 3-4 storeys and 80 underground parking spaces. Oh, and a ‘community room’.

Labour believes West Chesterton deserves better -; better planning, better architecture, better design. We will say so -; in written and oral submissions to Cambridge City Council Planning Committee.
