“Why do buses sail past bus stops in Milton Road?” is the most common question on the doorsteps from Hurst Park Avenue to Woodhead Drive.
It’s because bus companies operate for profit and not for public service. Jocelynne Scutt has been speaking to Stagecoach and there is no interest in improving the service.
Labour nationally has committed to making it easier for local councils to reverse the deregulation of local bus services, and enabling them to set up their own local bus companies. We want to put Public back into transport.

In the short term, we believe that bus stops at Arbury Road/Milton Road and Milton Road/Union Lane need upgrading. Labour County Councillors made a joint submission proposing that these bus stops be redesigned so that buses pull in, out of Milton Road traffic. This would improve safety and give a clear path for motorists.
