Following the publication of Labour’s manifesto today, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge Daniel Zeichner said:

“This is a manifesto that shows Labour shares your values.

“Under this Government, our NHS and social care have been pushed into a state of emergency, with soaring waiting lists and Addenbrooke’s in financial crisis. Teachers tell me their worries about funding cuts and rising class sizes.

“Labour, and I, believe in public services run for the public good. I’m proud that a Labour Government will save the NHS and commit to over £30 billion in extra funding over the next Parliament including ring-fencing mental health budgets

“We will reduce class sizes to less than 30 for all five, six, and seven-year-olds, and we are committed to protecting the real-terms school funding as well as extending the 30 hours of free childcare to all two year olds.

“Labour has pledged to create an “innovation nation” and Cambridge can be at its heart. We will appoint a Digital Ambassador, complete the transport arc, from Oxford to Cambridge and scrap tuition fees.

“As part of my own brief, we will reform the legislation taxis and private hire vehicles, an issue which is becoming more and more pressing in Cambridge.

“And for those of you who know me, you can imagine I’m a buzz with the news that there is also a section in the manifesto on protecting the bee population!

“This is a manifesto for the many, not the few, which sets out Labour’s radical vision for Britain.”
