Labour City Council are developing a Making Space for People supplementary planning document (SPD) for Cambridge.
The SPD will be used to prioritise the delivery of improvements to key public spaces. It will also identify improvements to key streets and improve the walking and cycling network.
The SPD will create a framework to improve the streets and spaces in central Cambridge. It will do this by encouraging more sustainable transport options, safeguarding the character of existing spaces, and identifying opportunities for new uses of space.
The council are seeking your views on our Central Cambridge Vision, Aims and Objectives and Strategies document. The document sets out our ‘vision’ for central Cambridge, and the principles and strategies which could underpin the future SPD.

The City Council will be holding two exhibition events where you can read about the project and the document, as well as speak to members of the project team.
- Wednesday 18 September, 3 to 7pm at Cambridge Central Library
- Wednesday 2 October, 11am to 2pm at the Guildhall
Although the documents concentrate on the city centre Mill Road is in scope too. So following Mill Road summer & the closure of the bridge you can add your views about your visions for Mill Road. Mill Road is included as an Opportunity Development Area Project 24.
