Call for better buses on Milton Road – sign the petition
This year we have had wholesale changes to buses throughout our area. In Milton Road alone, in recent months, for buses that actually stop:Stagecoach 9 now only once an hour
Stagecoach N calling every hour and then suddenly stopped running
Stagecoach A calling every hour and then suddenly stopped running
Stagecoach D calling every hour
Whippet C stopping shortly
How does anyone expect the use of buses to increase and people to leave their car at home with a bus service that changes month to month.
Councillor Mike Sargeant says “The Greater Cambridge Partnership’s consultation on improving Milton Road and making it better for buses, cycles and pedestrians is a vital part of getting people out of their cars — reducing congestion, pollution and stress. For that to really work, we need buses that take us when and where we want to go at an affordable price.
Currently, however, we have Stagecoach in a near monopoly situation deciding where and when they run and the cost. We need a bus service that is under public control—not totally under the control of a private company.“

We call on Cambridgeshire County Council, Greater Cambridge Partnership and the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to provide buses on Milton Road that serve the local community and not just Park & Ride and Guided buses which rarely stop.
