County Councillor for Arbury Division
Dr Jocelynne A. Scutt was elected in May 2013 to West Chesterton Division of Cambridgeshire County Council, West Chesterton being won by Labour for the first time since 1967. With the abolition of West Chesterton by the Boundaries Commission in 2017, she stood for Arbury, winning the seat upon the retirement of Cllr Paul Sales (Labour). On the County Council Jocelynne is Highways Lead, a member of the Constitution and Ethics Committee, and represents Labour on the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fire Authority. A Barrister and Human Rights Lawyer, she teaches law at the University of Buckingham and is a filmmaker and author, her films including The Incredible Woman and A Greenshell Necklace (with Karen Buczynski-Lee) and the DVD Installation ‘Covered – Debating the Veil’; her books include non-fiction – most recently Women & Magna Carta: A Treaty for Rights or Wrongs and Women, Law & Culture: Conformity, Contradiction & Conflict, both published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2016, Beauty, Women’s Bodies & The Law – Performances in Plastic (under contract), and crime fiction.
