At the first meeting of the Cambridge City Joint Area Committee since Labour took control of the City Council a number of cycling promotions were unlocked by Labour’s new progressive approach to organising the City.  Labour Cllrs Robertson, Blencowe and Cavanagh spoke in support of cyclists and to move on the agenda.

Romsey City Councillor Dave Baigent spoke from the floor in favour of Contra flow cycling in the following one way streets and called for more roads to be considered for the same action.

a) Belgrave Road,
b) Mercer’s Row,
c) Panton Street,
d) Ross Street,
e) Springfield Road,
f) Trafalgar Street.

Dave also spoke in favour of the cycle racks to be placed in Thoday Street and this was agreed.
