For a long time now Labour have been pressing the County Council to carry out a thorough renovation of the road surface on Mill Road.
I have now received the following notification from the County Council that they will be meeting our request (15th September 2014)

I just wanted to give you an update on these works. I can confirm that the work will take place Monday 20 to Friday 31 October 2014. The work will be done in two phases, City to Bridge 20-24 October and Bridge to Madras Road 27-31 October. For both phases the breakdown of work will be as follows; first two nights plane off existing carriageway surface, adjust ironwork and carry out base repairs, the next two nights surfacing and then the fifth night lining. All areas will be made safe to allow the road to be opened for use the next day.

The work will be carried out under a road closure and this will apply from 1900 to 0200. A diversion route will be in place and signage along with traffic management personnel will be present to direct traffic / pedestrians. The diversion route west of Coleridge Road is; Coleridge Road, Cherry Hinton Road, Hills Road, Gonville Place and vice versa. The diversion route east of Coleridge Road is; Coleridge Road, Cherry Hinton Road, Perne Road and vice versa.

A letter will be sent to all local residents and businesses week ending 3 October 2014 detailing the works. There will also be a press release and information will be displayed on Variable Message Signs around the City.

If you require any additional information then please do not hesitate to contact me.
