After Cambridge’s commemoration of the Holocaust at the Corn Exchange, which Daniel Zeichner MP addressed, Cambridge’s MP pledged his commitment to remember the Holocaust at a special event in Parliament by signing the Holocaust Memorial Day Book of Commitment.

This year’s Holocaust Memorial Day will take place on Wednesday 27th January the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history.

After signing the Book of Commitment, Daniel Zeichner MP, whose father was forced to flee Vienna when the Nazis came to power, said: “This is an important opportunity to remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust and to support the ongoing fight against prejudice and hatred.

“After the shocking events in Paris at the end of last year, and rising tensions across Europe, now more than ever we must ensure that we continue to challenge all forms of extremism and instead celebrate tolerance and diversity.”

Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said: “We are proud that Daniel Zeichner MP is supporting Holocaust Memorial Day. As we mark the 71st anniversary of the end of the Holocaust and the liberation of the concentration camps, it is vitally important that we both continue to remember and learn from the appalling events of the Holocaust -; as well as ensuring that we continue to challenge antisemitism and all forms of bigotry.
