As we promised in the recent City Council Elections, the Labour controlled City Council are appointing a Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner Coordinator.

This ‘champion’ will  promote the vitality and vibrancy of the Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner area, actively contributing to its improvement as a neighbourhood retail area through developing a Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner Partnership. This  mechanism will encourage  collaboration between all local businesses, organisations and groups  to improve the  area.

The coordinator will take a lead in  development and implementation of a Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner Action Plan  in consultation with residents and the local business community. A key aspect  will be  developing a culture of effective partnership working with all Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner organisations, acting as a catalyst and facilitator helping  identify common ground. A crucial element  will be shaping a sustainable funding model for the local organisations to ensure the work continues in the longer term.
