Cherry Hinton Residents Association’s (CHRA) plans to establish a community hub at the Library have been boosted with the granting of planning approval. The new hub will include a community cafe, garden, new meeting rooms and toilet – and is set to become the new base for the Cherry Hinton Royal British Legion. A new charity, Cherry Hinton Community Benefit Society  (CHCBS) has been set up to manage the CHUB and help fundraise for the new build.

Councillor Mark Ashton, CHRA chair, said “The hub will be a valuable resource, giving residents something to help those in need during and after Covid.”

Representatives of the Cherry Hinton Festival and CHRA are joining together to make plans for fundraising, and are speaking to the team at The Edge Cafe on Mill Road to see what lessons they can learn about setting up a community cafe, and are also talking with the team behind the What Will Help Food Hub to see how the two projects can work together to benefit Cherry Hinton residents.

To get involved  with the hub, go to the CHCBS website for more info.
