Welfare Bill

Following last night’s vote where Daniel Zeichner MP voted against the Welfare Bill said: "Sadly we are faced with a triumphalist Conservative party taking this country in a direction which I believe is fundamentally wrong.

The Conservatives are hell bent on a ruthless reduction in the support to working families through our social security system. Instead of tackling rocketing rents and unscrupulous landlords they are cutting support to children and the most vulnerable, which I find sickening.

I came into politics because I believe in social justice. These proposals are unfair, economically unsound and penalise low paid people living and working in high cost cities like Cambridge.”
