Cambridge Labour has today published its annual City Report outlining its top 40 achievements in the past 12 months, ahead of its manifesto launch on 1^st April. The City Report sets out key milestones achieved in relation to each of Labour’s priorities for Cambridge.

Key highlights include;

• 694 council homes either completed or underway
• Cambridge City Council recognised as the Joint 14^th best local authority nationally for its actions addressing climate change
• Over £1 million in community grants awarded, 42 warm spaces set up, £20,000 in energy vouchers and 28,000 households receiving the energy rebate across the city supporting residents with the Cost-of-Living Crisis
• Region of Learning launched and £1.3 million secured under the Government’s Sharing Prosperity Fund to support our communities and businesses

Councillor Anna Smith, Labour Leader of Cambridge City Council, welcomed the City Report;

“Last year, we published our ambitious manifesto, and this report demonstrates how we, as a Labour run City Council, have delivered against these promises across all our election pledges. I am proud of the consistent progress that has been made in so many areas of our work, demonstrating our strong delivery year-on-year. This is despite significant financial pressures which we have faced as a council.

She continued;

“We have particularly prioritised supporting residents during the Cost-of-Living Crisis doing all we can to help those struggling the most, including 42 warm spaces- a new initiative this year, as well as continuing to support work to address food poverty. Alongside this, we continue to build and refurbish council homes and seek to work hard to address the climate and biodiversity emergencies.

We are under no illusions of the scale of the challenges we face as a council in the years ahead, not least the significant financial pressures we, like all councils, are facing. But your Labour city council has a plan to meet these challenges. It’s only by voting Labour on May 4th that you can ensure you have a Labour council which is committed to meeting the needs of our residents during these difficult times.”
