Cllr Nick Gay
County Councillor for Market
My name is Nick and I am pleased to have been selected to represent Labour for the Cambridgeshire County Council election in Market on May 6th.
I have lived or worked in Market for nearly 40 years and was actively involved in the Save the Kite fight back in 1980! I work at the University Department of Biochemistry and Christ’s College in teaching and research.
I have 5 children at various stages of development, the youngest attending Parkside Community College where I served as a governor for 8 years. I have also served as an elected member of the University’s governing and trustee body the Council where I campaigned for a radical Green agenda of rapid decarbonisation, divestment from fossil fuels and the introduction across the University of the Living Wage.
As a result of the Tory austerity and mismanagement Cambridgeshire County Council is facing unprecedented cuts to its budget and services from libraries to social care are under pressure as never before. Our Labour Group will fight against these cuts and for our communities, against inequality and to protect our county’s environment.
