Ed Carlsson Browne, Romsey

17 Waterhouse, Water Lane, Cambridge CB4 1XZ. Phone: 01223 500515 email: edwardcarlssonbrowne@cambridgelabour.org.uk

Edward is your local Labour candidate for the City Council elections in 2010. He studied in Cambridge and now works locally as a school librarian. He is running to make sure the council acts in the interests of those who need it most by providing support, good council housing and a decent commercial environment so jobs can be created.

Ed says, "I'm standing for Labour because I believe in real Labour values: tackling inequality, standing up for the disenfranchised and helping communities to stand together. In a place as diverse as Romsey is, these values are indispensable. We need to preserve the balance between the needs of long-term residents, students and those new to our neighbourhood."

A few of your other local Labour team members: Romsey

Chris Freeman, Romsey

23 Hope Street, Cambridge CB1 3NA. Phone: 01223 211455, email: chris.freeman@freeuk.com

Chris Freeman was Labour's candidate for the County Council in 2009. Chris Freeman is well-known in Romsey and Cambridge, having lived and worked in the area for over 30 years.

She recently retired from the City Council's Community Development Section where she worked closely with many of the city's voluntary groups. Her clear-headed and friendly approach would be well deployed in the role of County Councillor for Romsey.

"I know how important it is that City and County Councils work together to ensure that Cambridge's planned population growth works well for both existing and new residents. Transport, community facilities and education are vital. I will be an active voice for you on the Council."

Chris is a founder member of the Cambridge Woodcraft Folk and, with Len, helps to run a charity providing holiday opportunities for children and young people. She belongs to Romsey's Allotments Society.

Joe Gluza, Romsey

5 St Phillips Road, Cambridge, CB1 3AQ Phone: 01223 214036

Joe has lived in Romsey for more than 20 years, and during that time he has seen many changes. Rat-running traffic and finding a parking space were hardly a problem when he first came to the area!

As your county councillor Joe opposed inappropriate housing developments, campaigned for better community and recreational facilities and supported improved nursery provision.

Joe is a member of Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth.

Liz Walter, Romsey

150 Sedgwick Street, Cambridge CB1 3AL Phone: 01223 512677

Liz Walter has lived in Cambridge for over 20 years. Her children attend school in the city and the whole family enjoys working on their allotment.

Liz worked for the University Press for many years and now runs her own business. She is a regular volunteer with Headway, the brain injury charity based on the Brookfields site.

Liz says, 'We need more family housing in Romsey, and more facilities for our young people."
