Jonathan Goodacre is Labour's Candidate for Queen Ediths.
Jonathan would work hard as Councillor for Queen Edith's ward and is an experienced campaigner on local issues big and small.
"I know Queen Edith's issues well, including from my time as Marketing Manager at the Junction. First and foremost I believe that the role of a councillor is to represent local residents. It is easy to hear the voices of those people who know how to work the system, but as a Labour Party representative I would ensure the whole community is heard.
"In talking to residents, I have been made well aware of a number of concerns specific to the area. The new residential developments around the Cambridge Leisure Park have had a major impact on an already busy area and I know that there are difficulties around resident parking which need to be addressed. Cambridge Labour Party is also committed to restoring the damage which has been done to the green verges in front of peoples' homes. In 2002, the then Lib Dem leader David Howarth said that verges would be their 'top priority' but since then only two roads have been fixed, Fendon and Mowbray Roads - others locally need the same attention.
"The congestion charge will also hit Queen Edith's residents hard. Whilst the traffic density problem of Cambridge clearly needs to be solved, this shouldn't be done at the expense of local residents who will effectively be paying a road tax for the benefit of people outside the city. For instance, why should people driving out and not causing a problem be charged ?
