Lucy Sheerman, Market

30 New Square, Cambridge, CB1 1EX Phone: 01223 328742 Email: las17@cam.ac.uk

Lucy has lived for fourteen years in Cambridge, first as a student (undergraduate and graduate), then in employment for the past six years, and most recently as a parent.

Lucy says, "These experiences of the varieties of Cambridge life have given me a good understanding of many of the issues facing Cambridge residents including leisure, housing, waste management and planning. I feel that I can bring this knowledge and experience to bear on the issues facing my constituents as well as in a role at the council in policy scrutiny and development."

"I have had a great deal of experience of working with local authorities in planning and development at a local and regional level through my role at the Arts Council. I have therefore seen for myself the impact on local communities which well planned initiatives can create and I understand the importance of negotiation and compromise in order to develop a vision which diverse partners and stakeholders can share."

"Since having a baby in July 2005 I feel the time has come to invest some energy back into my community and make it the best possible place to bring up a baby. I not only want my daughter to have the best opportunities available to her, I also want all of her peers to profit from good planning and sensible and compassionate policies in a safe and caring community in the future."
