After listening to today’s budget in the House of Commons, Daniel Zeichner MP said:

“This was George Osborne 16th major economic statement to the House of Commons and he is still hell-bent on slashing services. He announced another £3.5 billion of cuts.

“After six years of the Tories the take home message from this Budget is that the Chancellor has missed his targets on growth again and that there is lower growth because of lower productivity.

“We have an out of touch Chancellor telling young people to save up for their first home or to save for their pension. He clearly hasn’t realised young people in Cambridge have no spare cash as they are spending it all on sky high rents!

“What Cambridge needs is real power over homes and transport. Just announcing a “power house” with an elected mayor no one wants won’t super-charge our economy.

This was another ideological budget, from an out of touch Chancellor.”
