A concerned headteacher and parents are fearful for children's safety outside a Cambridge primary school.
Francesca Catterson became headteacher at St Luke's Primary School at the beginning of January this year and within the first 4 weeks in post, had 11 emails from worried parents about the dangers facing children coming to the school in the morning and when they leave. Mrs Catterson says there has already been a near miss and she is very concerned that a pupil will be seriously injured before too long.
Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner went to see the problem for himself. Mr Zeichner met pupils, parents and governors to discuss ways to help make the neighbourhood safe for children to walk and cycle to school.
Daniel Zeichner MP said: "Our children's safety must come first. I will be taking the ideas discussed to the county council so that we can urge them to look again at improving traffic calming measures."
