Our police service is overstretched and lacking resources: but is there also a local problem?

DRUGS 

Charges for drugs offences in Cambridgeshire have fallen by 32% in the last four years. However this does not mean that there is less drug dealing. 

Your local councillors are handling increased levels of complaints after residents report crimes to the police and their response is that there are no resources to respond. 

It has to be remembered that the need to resource the buying of drugs is responsible for much of the crime in Cambridge.

The BBC reports that Policing is at risk of becoming “irrelevant” as neighbourhood teams are stripped back and huge numbers of crimes go unsolved.

 

Recorded crime in Cambridgeshire has risen by 43%.          Nationally, it has risen by 36%

2014-16 there were 46,300 crimes

2015-16 there were 48,600 crimes

2016-17 there were 57,900 crimes

2017-18 there were 66,200 crimes

Charges are up by 3%. Nationally, they have fallen by 16%
