Following the announcement from Abellio Daniel Zeichner MP said: “I’m pleased we finally have some certainty about what will happen on the Cambridge-Liverpool Street line, after this much delayed announcement. 

I would have preferred that the Government used the delay for some radical thinking like having a directly operated service. Of course it’s ironic instead the Tories are heralding the announcement that our railways will be run by a Dutch government-owned train operator for next decade.

Passengers won’t expect any excuses from Abellio now the company has the benefits of continuity and can plan for the long term.

I will be making sure they keep to their promises on new trains and no more delays to Cambridge North. It’s also time to promise long suffering commuters no more unfair price hikes.”
