During the last year, Cambridge City Council's environmental health team has investigated hundreds of noise nuisance complaints. Warnings were given to the owners of the equipment but where residents did not turn down the volume, the council obtained a warrant from courts to seize the equipment. The seized items, accumulated over a number of years, will now be donated to the British Heart Foundation for recycling.
Daniel Zeichner MP said: “Noisy neighbours can really cause misery so as a last resort it is right to seize equipment. But the last thing we want is it going to landfill. This is a great scheme to re-use and recycle equipment while supporting a world class research charity to help keep more hearts beating in Cambridge."
