Chesterton pavements and potholes: an accident waiting to happen

We all know that the state of the pavements and roads in East Chesterton is a disgrace, with potholes in particular posing a risk to both drivers and cyclists.012.JPG

The main reason the roads are the way they are is that the Tories and Lib Dems have imposed massive cuts on local authorities, leading to chronic under investment. But what is even more shocking is the poor quality of many of the repairs that are carried out, with holes being patched up with cheap infill that simply disappears at the first sight of bad weather. Your Labour team is determined to address this problem, and is pushing council officers to ensure that streets and roads in East Chesterton are no longer neglected. As Cllr Gerri Bird told the Cambridge News, “its not good enough simply filling holes in. Our main roads in East Chesterton need to be totally resurfaced.” In response to Gerri’s complaints, the County Council has promised to get on with repairs ASAP. Only Labour is truly committed to greater investment in roads, pavements and transport infrastructure.
