As world leaders gather in Paris for a crucial Climate Conference, Cambridge campaigners have made their voice heard.
In a speech to individuals and organisations who have signed the "Cambridge Climate Message" Daniel Zeichner MP said "addressing environmental challenges is a matter of fundamental social justice" at a special event Cambridge Cleantech, The Future Business Centre.
Individuals including David Mackay, former Chief Scientific Advisor to the Department of Energy and Climate Change and local groups Transition Cambridge, Cambridge Carbon footprint, Fossil Free Cambridge, Cambridge Greenpeace, Cambridge Cleantech and Cambridge Junction have all signed the message.
The campaigners sent their message to Sir David King, the UK special envoy for climate change and local MP Daniel Zeichner has highlighted the Cambridge Climate Message in Parliament and urged the Climate Change Minister to take note.
Daniel Zeichner MP said: "I'm proud to back the Cambridge Climate Message
“Floods, famines and health problems caused by climate change are bringing misery, hunger and death now. We cannot allow global temperatures to continue to spiral. We need ambitious action in Paris now.
Mr Zeichner also praised the work of Cambridge Cleantech and say: "The transition to a low carbon economy is also a huge opportunity for Cambridge, with the potential to be a major source of jobs and growth."
